As the holidays approach, getting into a generous mood wasn’t
too difficult when benefiting youngsters in the community is the goal.
Axiom employees got involved after the Houston Fire
Department and KPRC-TV Ch. 2 sounded the call for new or gently used toys during
the annual “Operation: Stocking Stuffer,” which began Nov. 27 through Dec. 18. Within
the span of a week, gifts from employees accumulated on a first-floor desk
within the Axiom offices, ranging from small action figures to a bicycle.
On Wednesday, the gifts were rounded up and transported from
historic Fire Station No. 6 at 1702 Washington Ave. to HFD Station No. 6 at
3402 Washington, where HFD personnel graciously accepted them.
According to the Houston Fire Department, last year’s toy
drive collected more than 250,000 toys from 90 HFD stations and from various
businesses in Houston.
